proposed sunstone panel

i was talking with a co-worker today about the various lives of lds students here in happy valley and decided that i want to propose a panel for next year's sunstone symposium - something like 'experiences of lds students in happy valley.' i would get a handful of various students to share their varying experiences here.

perhaps it could look like this:

inactive/former lds (jason king?)
someone like me (steve m.?)
token female (kelly?)
conservative guy (connor?)
crazy insane conservative guy (hhhhh?)
wookie (chewy?)

anyways, it's just a thought. i think it'd be fun and interesting though.

  4. anonymous coward:

i rarely censor comments, but your trolling is just ridiculous. you offer nothing to say other than your stupid and snide remarks, which show how little you know.

you obviously know little about me or you wouldn't be commenting with your pathetic attempts at making fun of mormonism.

i don't shy away from criticizing mormonism. i'm open and honest about who i am and what i am saying. you, on the other hand, are a poor little coward posting factless accusations under the guise of anonymity.

shut up and stop commenting my blog.

  5. oh i forgot to add silent observer as the conservative guy. he's the one i would really want on the panel

  6. Can I nominate Stefani? Her views are certainly more conservative than Kelly's, but she's a critical thinker, too. It might be nice to have more than the "token" female, but to have both sides of the spectrum be represented by them, too.

  7. Um, what about Erin and Errin? Certainly no "tokenism" to adding them, though - so that might not be what you want.

Or, more importantly, what about having me on the panel to talk about the constant oppression I receive at the hands of you people?

Like this guy today who wanted me to offer a title for his book on Mormon philosophy...Perfect Example! Oppressive jerk.

  9. ben: i was actually thinking of both er[r]ns. the names listed are just the ones that i knew others might recognize. i was actually thinking of you as well. it all depends on how broad or narrow i want the focus to be (lds and non-lds, just lds, 'unorthodox' lds, etc), as well as how many panel members would be feasible.

  10. What do you mean by "token female"? You hear from one of 'em you've heard from 'em all? I don't get it. Let's get a specturm of male opinions... and one female aught to do the trick? (Ok, so I'm not *really* feeling as angsty as my comment might make it seem... but I do think it's weird.) Plus, B is right. I'm really not your typical "happy valley" girl. But I don't know, maybe that's what you're going for when you say "token female."

  11. Thanks for the silly "crazy insane conservative guy" tag.

If you cared, I'd tell you that my moral views tend to be conservative in a grand scale (favor ban in most abortions, oppose gay marriage, have a more authentic view on freedom of speech).

These ideas have not affected my personal relationships, neither have they substracted variety from my acquaintances and social life. In fact, I am able to keep honest, strong, good relationships with people of all ethnologies, political backgrounds, ideologies, religions and sexual preferences.

Is that the case with you? Are there any stereotypes that irk you, or make you umcomfortable when around? Given the fact that you're about to give a piece of your mind to your bishop for commiting the sin of not doing smalltalk with you, it seems that may be the case.

BTW, I loved the link you posted. Is that a favorite band or something?

  12. kel: while i'm serious about putting a panel together, this post wasn't as serious. i don't intend to have a wookie represented in the panel. i also picked you because you use the f-word in describing yourself... or could at least use it. plus you're my friend.

    hhhhhh:

just crazy insane conservative guys. sheesh, i even like connor and wouldn't mind meeting him sometime. well, i'd actually like to meet you sometime... just as long as their is bullet proof glass seperating us and trained 'friends' with tranquilizers in case you act up.

  13. almost forgot

    f-word = feminist

  14. If by "acting up" you mean being "politically incorrect" (giving the last speech in sacrament, etc.) or not being "open about the Gospel" (bringing up polygamy and Adam-God in Gospel Doctrine class), yea, I might act up.

At any rate, I don't have interest in meeting you. There is already a weird guy in my new ward that stands up and makes weird, condemnatory, self-righteous comments that debilitate new converts' testimonies in Sunday School and Priesthood. So, I guess I have already "vicariously" met you in person.

  15. hhhhhhhhhhhhhh: by "acting up" i mean acting on your psychotic delusions.

this is all rather unrelated to the issue of this post. if you want to continue it, i made a special post just for you. remember?

  16. So: twerp, evil, Down's syndrome (with a special comparison to Corky, who you seem to think should be laughed at), crazy, insane, Republican, and now psychotic. Wow, you should be a profiling specialist for the FBI (Oops, forgot, the word "profiling" is politically incorrect.)

As for the invitation to stay within the limits of that lame post, nah, thank you for your kindness. As you said it earlier, "the world is my playground", and that include as many threads as I and my freedom of speech decide.

Anyways, none of my comments is off-topic, since the thread is about trolling. The one that turned the Sunstone panel post into personal attacks was you (by randomly "profiling" a bunch of people), so I don't understand the sudden change of perspective here, neither the pretense of a different intention in the post.

  17. hhhhhh: you're cute when you are delusional. i don't think down-syndrome people should be laughed at. i think people like you who share their intelligence without actually having a biological mental retardation are free game.

if you have something to say about my proposed sunstone panel go ahead, otherwise please leave your trolling comments on your special little post.

Your silly personal attacks are puny.

Anyways, why did you compare me with Corky then? Was that meant to be an insult or what? You haven't brushed off that one yet.

  21. hhhhhhh:

i left yet another explanation of my comparison on your very own special post. please leave any further responses there.

  25. hhhhh: the reason why i linked your name to corky should have been obvious. that you didn't realize it further illustrates the point.

leave further comments not dealing with the sunstone panel at your special post. or just stop commenting period.
