my bike was stolen

i rode viggy to institute today. when i got out an hour later he was gone. i locked him up pretty good and whoever stole it would have had to completely remove the cable to ride away with it. since they seemed to have also taken the lock - and it would have been difficult to ride with the eggbeater pedals - my guess is that the lock was cut and they threw viggy in a truck and drove off with him.

viggy wasn't just a bike. when i was clicked into those crankbrother pedals he became an extension of my body. right now i just feel violated and devasted. i had just spend a couple hours touching him up a recently and was all set to hit a trail tomorrow more that i had discovered over the weekend.

this sucks ass.

i want to cry. i can't believe this happened.

  7. Not that this will bring your bike back, but this reminds me of a buddy of mine who went to dental school at USC. He had his car stolen twice in his first year of dental school in Los Angeles.
It also reminds me of my mission president in Mexico. When we asked why we didn't have bikes, he said, "because there are more thieves than bikes."
Sorry to hear about your bike man. Maybe you could get a snazzy pair of roller skates to get around.

  9. Not to make light of the situation, but watching Pee-wee's Big Adventure might be comforting at a time like this.

  10. Sorry to hear about the bike, man. But what do you expect, you now live in one of those oh-so-infamous anti-American parts of America.

  12. thanks everyone. i reported my loss today to the campus police. apparently this type of bicycle theft (where they cut the locks) hasn't been too common here, however in the last two days i was the ninth person to report having their bike stolen. the police said they had some leads, so maybe viggy might be returned to me. crossing my fingers...

  13. Hey man, it's been a while. Sorry to hear about your bike. I've had two stolen. One was my first BMX when I really got into riding when I was 21 right off the back of my car at a Walmart in NH. Ya sucky feeling. Anyway, was hoping I could email you and keep in touch if that's cool. I have an old email address for juno, but I thought you changed it right? If you don't still have mine, djgoodwin23@yahoo.com. So yeah, hope to hear from you, I would like to write you. and I liked your talk, too man. Later
