congratulations west virginia, your state is composed of retards and racists





there are a few days when i question the wisdom of democracy. how good of a system is it when the majority of voters are retarded. take west virginia as an example. recent pundits pointed out that hillary clinton had a great chance of blowing away barack obama because the majority of voters were white persons without college degrees. in fact west virginia had the highest percentage of uneducated white voters so far in this primary season (and will most likely hold that title for at least another 4 years). this is a state where over 70% of the primary voters believed that clinton's gas tax holiday was a great idea - something that has been universally rejected by analysists. furthermore, this is a state where nearly 1/4 of white voters openly acknowledged that race was an important issue when making their decision, with 85% of them voting for the whiter clinton.

now some of you may be wanting to chime in with the counter argument that this is no different than a black voter wanted to vote for the blacker obama. however, there is a fundamental difference between a black person wanting to vote for the first black president and a white person wanting to vote against the first black president (or wanting to vote for the 44th white president. there can be a powerful sense of pride (for the individual and for the country) that can be achieved by voting for the first legitimate black (or female) candidate as opposed to the pride achieved by voting for the 45th white male candidate.

but back to west virginia's retards....

should we really be allowing our uneducated to help choose who is going to run our country? one may say that even the uneducated need to be able to add their voice as to who they feel will best suit their needs, but doesn't that preclude them having the intelligence to understand what they need. and that's where the problem lies - as was shown in west virginia where the majority of voters did not have a college education and the majority of voters supported the gas tax holiday. as mentioned before, this holiday has been rejected by every economist and analysist as meer political panderring and nothing more. it would not help those in economic distress and would actually just increase gas consumption, benefitting the oil companies. no in depth research was needed to find this out. all one needed to do was open up the (liberal) new york times or (conservative) u.s. world news and report. sheesh, that wasn't even necessary as all one needed to do was watch some news or use the internet for something more than porn and klan rally information. and yet 70% of west virginians bought it hook, line, and sinker.

if someone is so clueless as to what the issues are, or so racist to even care, why are we even allowing them to be part of the political process?

yes west virginia, there is a retard.

    I didn't even read this post, so this comment does not relate to it. I've visited your blog only a handful of times in the past couple of years. I was linked today from the Calderwoods and it went to an old post (Feb of last year)instead of just your site in general. I was glad. I read your story about life (I can't remember what it was called, but sure you will). You are a fantastic writer. Really amazing. I liked it a lot. I was surprised how much I had read when I scrolled back up to see the date. I hadn't even noticed it was that long. Anyway, good work, good writing.

    Wow. At some point this blog, which I really used to enjoy, devolved into a Clinton bashing, Obama can do no wrong kind of blog. I have nothing against Obama at all, in fact I voted for him in my primary and will vote for him in November. But please, give it a rest. We know you drank all the Obama kool-aid you could find, so let it go and please get back to the kind of posts that was bringing me to your blog to begin with. Much more of this and I'll just have to stop even taking the time to see what you're posting...

    On the other hand, those in WV with very high level of education also voted for Clinton over Obama at a similar ratio to those of lesser education levels.

    obama is a moron that thinks everything is about him. he associates with known terrorists, he associates with racial motivated black liberation theologist that even oprah walked away from in the late 80's. hes an elitist. bush did not mention his name once and yet in his arrogance obama supposes it has to be about him. your comments on WV show just how much kool-aid you have been drinking. obama is no different than any other politician out there. he will say what he has to when he has to as long as people will vote for him. look how he handled the rev wright debacle. one day he loves the man so much he could never disown him. couple weeks late he tosses him to the curb cause rev wright is hurting his pole numbers. you want to talk about reetards and racists - look at obama followers that is where you will find retards and racists!

    this post was not meant as another attack on clinton (who i have not liked since 2001 when she jumped on the anti-electoral college bandwagon). rather, it was just a more acerbic way of asking how detrimental and counter-productive an uneducated and/or ignorantly biased (racist, xenophobic, religiously intolerant, etc) electorate can to to our democratic process. this latter way of asking the question just isn't as fun to write.

    what known terrorists does obama associate with? please don't point to the weatherman because his association there was nothing more than your association with those in your neighborhood watch team. should obama have moved? should he have refused to be on a community board simply because this other man was? should he have left the room everytime the other entered? give me a break.

    funny you still think it's all about obama when bush's speech writers have said they specifically went general in their comments because they didn't want to piss Carter off.     I had the very same epiphany when Huckabee was sweeping the southern states during the Republican primary. True, Americans are stupid. And this truth manifests itself in politics more than anything else I can think of.

    But this was followed by another epiphany: gratitude for the Founding Fathers, that when they slapped together this great nation of ours, gave the power to people who were even MORE uneducated back then than they are today. In pulling off such a stunt, the sheer immensity of their trust in the system of government they created was rivaled only by the size of their gonads.

    What does this mean for us? I guess if such illuminaries as Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, Adams, et al had such confidence in a democratic republic, so should we. For you this means to have faith that racist retards cannot frustrate the democratic process. For me this means to have faith that when someone like Obama is elected, the system is designed such that one man cannot wreck the country by himself. God bless America.

    actually the founding fathers limited voting to white male property owners specifically because they saw a strong link then between property ownership, intelligence, and access to education. many of the founding fathers were well read and highly educated men who believed an uneducated electorate was dangerous to the constitutional republic. for this reason they limited voting to prevent the retards from screwing up the newfound union.

    I think you would have been better off by using a word like "idiot" instead of "retard."

    Retard carries a lot of baggage. I once shouted it loudly at a Jazz game only to notice two rows back a young girl in a wheelchair. I doubt she understood my slur but if her family heard me they would have understood. I felt awful.
