snl does it again!

last night tina fey once again reprised her role as sarah palin in a parody of palin's recent interview with katie couric. it is amazing how alike fey and palin can look.

i must admit though, fey's performance was a little mean. she makes palin look like a bumbling idiot.

here are a couple clips from the snl skit. enjoy!

  1. ok loyd, this time they've gone too far. No Veep candidate could ever be so stupid.

    She's cute though.

  2. Yikes. Those two clips really cut her to the core. The person in the pink suit should be ashamed for posing as a bumbling idiot spewing off nonsense in such a way. Surely a VP candidate would never appear a such in a big interview on a huge network with millions watching.

  3. I remember when Obama used to sound like that, too. Imagine my surprise after he managed to go a whole debate with John McCain where the tally of actual words spoken outnumbered his um's and uh's. He's come a long way!

  4. that was really bad. I realize the clips are clips and are out of context. I wonder if I saw the whole thing, if it wouldn't appear so mediocre and as if I were the one answering those questions myself.

  5. s.o.,

    yeah. those are so comparable.

  6. Come on. Admit that Obama comes off as a blithering moron. You have nothing to worry about; any chance John McCain had of losing by a small margin evaporated with the tanking economy and his lackluster debate performance. You can do it. If you need to psych yourself up for it by remembering that he cited living in Indonesia when he was 10 and majoring in International Relations as his foreign policy credentials. Or that he cited as qualification to be president the fact that he runs for president so well. It won't hurt, promise.

  7. hmmm...i agree with Lucy. it felt like she was at a job interview where she had defend her resume that she obviously exaggerated. but S.O to me its not her ums and pauses that make her seems ... um...stupid. it is the fact that she offers nothing inbetween the um´s. yeah, its obvious that the border between Alaska and Russia is narrow, and that yeah, the US keeps an eye on it...but what does she have to do with any of that? uuuuuhhhhmmmmmmmm

  8. s.o.,

it's one thing to stutter while collecting (or even losing) your thoughts. it's another thing entirely to not have any thoughts in the first place.

  9. That was a bit harsher than what I was looking for. I don't think Obama is thoughtless in those clips as much as he is just sleep-deprived and stressed out and unable to bring his thoughts out in a coherent fashion.

  10. Wait, I thought Obama was just a charismatic and articulate guy who had great public speaking skills but lacked substance. Now he's being criticized for "com[ing] off as a blithering moron"?

  11. Steve M., that sentiment is so 2006. During the primaries it became quite clear that not only was Obama without substance, but his oratory was, shall we say, fleeting.

Follow up question: since you were one of the ones that questioned Mitt Romney's integrity because of his flip-flopping, do you have the same concerns about Obama now that he has reneged on practically every major policy position he once held?

  12. practically every major policy position he once held?

Oh, come on! Has Obama morphed into a pro-Iraq War right-wing Bush cronie without me realizing it?

    Let's talk specifics.

  13. Oh, and I've got to say that the criticism that Obama lacks substance is also "so 2006." You may not agree with Obama's substance, but to argue at this point in the race that he lacks it altogether is a pretty good sign that you haven't been paying much attention.

  14. If by pro-Iraq war right wing Bush cronie you mean that his position is now indistinguishable from Bush's, then yes. And if you need specifics I believe you are the one not paying attention because I nearly shat myself laughing all summer at editorials like these when Obama started his run to the center. So as I see it, either Romney and Obama lack integrity together, or you need to pull an Obama yourself on the issue of flip-flops. Either way, it sure is fun to rub your nose in it.

  15. brilliant s.o., you are comparing obama's adjustments to his withdrawal plan to romney's complete ideological switch. be careful, stretch any harder and you might pull something.

i will admit though, as bush has started to implement what obama has been calling for - timelines in iraq and diplomacy with n. korea and iran - his and obama's foreign policy are starting to look a little more similar.

    ReplyDelete
  16. OHMYGOODNESS. Obama's "adjustments" were so radical he sent the whole idiot wing of the Democratic party reeling for days. If you can't admit it I can think of only one reason why, so let me ask you: since Obama still hasn't released his medical records, can you do us all a favor and check for some polyps while you're up there?

    ReplyDelete
  17. be careful with all that stretching s.o.

and why are you suddenly trying to change the subject. obama did release his medical records. i'm sure he could have released his full records to a few journalists for a brief period of time like mccain did, but since nobody is worried about his health i doubt it's going to happen.

if you really want his full medical history released for a few hours to a few journalists, start making a big fuss about it and get people really wanting to know. see how far it gets you. my guess is that nobody gives a flipped bugger about it.

  18. Um, it was a just a joke. Meaning that you've got your head so far up his exit-hole you can't see what is obvious to everyone else, including such bastions of conservatism as NPR, ABC, NYT, WaPo, and the DailyKos. So forgive me when I don't think I'm the one "stretching" as much as your man-crush on Obama is made of the kind of love that is truly blind.
