Glenn Beck slams Mormon Prophet for asking us to serve and volunteer

Two weeks ago at the semi-annual LDS General Conference, Mormon Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, asked Latter-day Saints to volunteer their time and efforts to serve others.

While this may seem to be a gracious and prophetic call for all of us serve those around us, Glenn Beck, in all his brilliance, sees past this and shows us what it really is: President Monson is merely a pawn supporting Obama's plan for a communist takeover.

The logic is fairly clear and simple. Obama took office just 9 months ago and immediately set off his plan to turn the United States into a communist dictatorship. Part of this plan is by encouraging people to serve and volunteer to help out others--obviously an evil form of Maoist communism. President Monson just happened to give a talk encouraging Mormons to do the same thing nine months after Obama became president!. Coincidence? We think not.

Don't believe me? Watch for yourself:

  1. Kind of a non-sequitur with the tie-in to Mormonism and Communism, but still... what's Glenn Beck's deal? Does he actually have a problem with volunteering? Or does he think free vacations shouldn't be allowed? He should probably pick only one of those, since it's kind of a contradiction for him to complain about both. Of course, I'm sure this is really just about the same thing as the Nobel Peace Prize and the Olympics: he really just wants the Obamas to fail at everything and he's upset that anyone would listen to them.

  2. Holy Crap! What is wrong with him?

Is there an Article of Faith that goes something like: "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, snarky...."

  3. The thing that makes me really sad is I have several friends who LOVE Glenn Beck. They think he is the only one reporting the "real" news.

  4. Nice!!! This actually goes along with my observation that Mormons are socialists in their religion, and then mildly humorous that they oppose it vigorously outside of it, as the devil's religion!

  5. That is it volunteer, serve but who makes the money?

  6. Oh my gosh. I feel like I need to go get a wipe to clean Glenn Beck's nastiness from my computer screen after that. I am so sick of him. His line of reasoning is so out there it makes me want to scream, not to mention his nauseatingly haughty tone and superiority complex. I guess the point he's making is that he doesn't want a positive message to come from television--he only wants it to come from ecclesiastical sources? (So then as a TV personality, I guess I'd have to say he's doing a great job contributing to TV's BAD message. I've yet to see him contribute something positive to the airways.) He had to spin this really hard to find a way to say that Hollywood trying to encourage people to be kind is actually a bad thing. Spin spin spin. What a moron. I wish he'd go away.

  7. Glenn Beck doesn't believe in being a volunteer. He wouldn't be a huge d-bag for a dime less than they pay him.

  8. You were reading my mind when I first saw this on the news yesterday! HT to you and a wag of the finger to Elder Beck!

  9. I actually saw this episode and two last week, as I am not one to usually watch Beck, and as I watched it I was slightly tilting my head to the side and thinking..."what?"

With that said though, he has given some strong arguments for some far left influences to those around Obama. If this is your best take down of Beck, that actually makes him look pretty good.

  10. Reminds me of HITLER! Why don't you people see it?
I will not be controlled by Barrack OBAMA! Whats he hiding? He is not disputing anything BECK says!

Obama is nothing more than a smooth talking con man! He who has nothing to hide, hides nothing. He who hides everything is always Guilty"

Are you serious? I just have to ask...how exactly does one reach that conclusion?

The man is making fun of people for being charitable. No amount of spin can make Beck look good here. It's really quite painful to watch.

  13. MP, I am serious and I agree that was painful to watch, but you missed my point. If one were to construct a list of GB's 100 best jabs at Obama and his administration, I don't think the subject of this post would make it on that list. Therefore, if you are trying to refute his legitimacy and this is the best anti-Beck argument one can make...well, that is just plain weak. Why don't I see more people shooting down his stronger jabs at the POTUS?

  14. Pretty sure Obama stole the "service" campaign from the mormons. Obama may have said it 9 months ago but the mormon church have been saying it since 1830, and who gets the credit?
