watched life is beautiful tonight with some friends. this movie was just awesome and won it's spot in my favorites list. guido is just awesome. almost always optimistic, he tries his hardest to lift the spirits of his wife and son as they go through the tragic events of the holocaust. if he weren't so good at being happy, i would have bawled my eyes out. the movie is sad, but happy at the same time. anyone and everyone should see this.
Couldn't agree more. "Life Is Beautiful" is a marvelous film. I was living in Jerusalem when the movie was released and the premiere was shown there. I think they were crossing their fingers and hoping that the Israeli and Jewish communities would accept (and even like this film). Though there were those who grumbled about the mixture of comedy with the profound and dire issue of the Holocaust, the movie won accolades and awards in Israel.
